Come to our Space Demon Effigy Workshop!
We will help you construct an effigy of your inner demon. At the end of the day, take your demon with you and burn it at your own discretion, or leave your demon with us and we'll put it in our field of effigies at Burning Man. You are invited to join us in our Burn the Space Demons procession at Burning Man, Sunday at dusk!

What do I need to bring?
- Newspaper if you've got it!
- Any momentos of those demons you need to burn.
- Pictures to help you visualize your effigy as you're constructing it.
- Friends if you're feeling ambitious and want to make a large effigy.
What is the Field of Effigies?
The Space Virgins Light Continuum theme camp will be hosting a Field of Effigies as an art installation at Burning Man. All of the space demons donated by workshop participants will be placed in a field in front of the Space Virgins theme camp on rebar spikes. The field of effigies will be seeded by the Space Virgins, including life sized space demon structures created out of newspaper and masking tape, and painted to look like chrome (see images above). All of the effigies will be burnt ritualistically Sunday night, by being carried on spikes in a procession to a burn platform.
How will I construct an effigy at the workshop?
Here are six easy steps for making an effigy:
Step 1: Crumple
up lots and lots of paper! Lots and Lots!
Step 2: Create
a wire armature.
Step 3: Tape paper on with masking tape.
Step 4: Tape more paper on with masking tape.
Step 5: Wrap entire structure with masking tape.
Step 6: Paint.
